About the Program

The Course Peer Observation program for Computer Science Foundation is designed to enhance teaching quality through a structured, supportive peer review process. This initiative brings together instructors to observe, reflect, and improve their teaching practices in an EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) context.

Objectives

  • Promote reflective teaching practices among CS educators
  • Provide constructive, evidence-based feedback on teaching
  • Share effective teaching strategies for CS foundation courses
  • Enhance EMI teaching skills through peer collaboration
  • Build a supportive community of practice in CS education

Observation Process

1

Pre-Observation Meeting

Observer and instructor meet to discuss the lesson plan, learning objectives, and specific areas for feedback.

2

Classroom Observation

The observer attends the class session, taking notes on teaching methods, student engagement, and learning activities.

3

Post-Observation Discussion

A reflective discussion where both parties share observations, celebrate strengths, and identify opportunities for improvement.

4

Written Feedback

The observer provides a structured written report summarizing key observations and recommendations.

Guiding Principles

  • Confidentiality — Observations are for professional development, not evaluation
  • Respect — All feedback is delivered constructively and collegially
  • Reciprocity — Every participant serves as both observer and observed
  • Growth — The focus is on continuous improvement, not perfection
